The first 6 days...

May 28, 2013

We have been traveling for 6 days now!

Thursday 5/23-
We woke up at our house in New Mexico. After lunch at O’Niell’s Pub we spent the afternoon driving to Moab, Utah where we spent the night on Carl & Melinda’s property parked on their airplane hanger.

Friday 5/24-
We drove thru Salt Lake City, all of Idaho and we spent the night at the little municipal airport in Baker City, Oregon.

Saturday 5/25-
We finished driving thru Oregon and spent the night in La Conner, Washington near our storage unit (where we stored all our boating things).

Sunday 5/26-
We sorted thru our storage unit, took a bunch of things to Goodwill, and went toTim & Bev’s house in Seattle, Washington where we had a nice dinner with them and Amanda and Rita (granddaughter & her partner).  Also, I posted our outboard motor and generator on Craigslist.

Monday 5/27-
We sold our outboard motor!  Then we took a ferry from Everett to Kingston.  We made it to Steve and Monica’s beach house on the Hood Canal to spend some time with my uncle Steve before we went to their home in Port Townsend.  We had appetizers of clams (dug up from the beach house the day before), we tried to go out for dinner.  Memorial Day in Port Townsend is not a good night to go out to dinner.  After trying several restaurants we settled for shopping at the Safeway grocery store.  Back at Steve & Monica’s house we had the best spinach, goat cheese and “propane chicken” salad.  For dessert we had Greek honey yogurt with blueberries.  It was probably a better meal than we could have found at ant restaurant!

Tuesday 5/28-
We said our goodbyes to Steve & Monica and had lunch in Port Townsend at a coffee shop where there was internet so I could post my blog...

Leaving Town...

May 23, 2013

Dear Family & Friends,

We have changed our summer plans 3 times but finally I feel confident that our plans won't change (much).  So here it is!

June, July & August we have rented a house in Petersburg, Alaska. The plan is to go fishing, catch up with friends, enjoy 4th of July weekend's FISHERMAN'S GAMES and shop for a property to buy. We are taking our beloved RV, that we named Big O', on the ferry from Bellingham, WA May 31st and arriving in Petersburg 49 hours later.

Today we finished packing Big O' and we hit the road at 1 PM.  The plan is to drive to Anacortes, Washington over the next 3 - 4 days.  Once we are there we hope so see a few friends and family, get our boating stuff out of storage (in case you haven't heard we sold our boat last November), stock up on basics at Cotsco before catching the Ferry at 7pm May 31st. Then it is a 2 day and one hour ferry ride up to Petersburg, Alaska. Cabins for the ferry were sold out so we are planning on overtaking a bench or something...?

You may not know but two years ago when we visited Petersburg we made an offer on a piece of waterfront land but things didn't work out.  We hope to find a property we like and purchase it this summer while we are there.  If all goes well it will be our summer house and it will have a few extra rooms so we could run a little bed & breakfast...

If you want to visit us this summer, we would love to see you and show you around.  Let us know if you are coming and we can recommend our favorite bed & breakfasts.

Before leaving NM, Gage leaned into some wet paint on a door jam.

Rob not wanting to be outdone went blue.  He was sawing on my blue yoga brick. (Smurf or Braveheart?)

Can you guess what he did with my Yoga brick?  Also notice the footrest he made to protect Gage from the exhaust!

Yes! He made a seat and foot rests for both our Trials Bikes.

Gage was being so patient waiting for us to finish packing...
